How to manage concussion, vertigo, tinnitus, migraines or tension headaches with osteopathic treatments

Coping with a concussion, vertigo, tinnitus, migraine or tension headaches can be debilitating. Common symptoms you may be experiencing are:

  • ringing in the ear
  • dizziness
  • sensitivity to light and noise
  • balance problems
  • nausea
  • blurry or double vision.

Getting a cranial sacral treatment, as part of a manual osteopathic treatment, can help in relieving and improving these conditions, decreasing their severity and frequency.

How does it work?

Manual osteopaths improve and restore the normal physiological function of interrelated body structures and systems enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

A cranial sacral treatment is a gentle hands-on treatment the focuses on the subtle movement of the cerebrospinal fluid around the skull, spine and sacrum. It works by releasing compression and improving the flow of the cerebral spinal fluids.

A trained manual osteopath uses their hands to apply a very gentle pressure (about the pressure of a nickel). A typical treatment is 45min to an hour and starts by working from the lower legs up to the skull with most holds on the skull. Often clients find this treatment very relaxing.

Osteopathic care is very effective for athletes including hockey and football, as well as treating head injuries and motor vehicle accident concussions.
