Neurofunctional Acupuncture

Neurofunctional Acupuncture is a modern approach to the traditional Chinese method, which was popularized by Dr. Alejandro Elorriga Claraco at McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program.

This modern perspective on acupuncture implements a gentle electrical stimulation to the needle at a specific and calculated area to influence nerve dysfunction and underlying pain. This technique utilizes the ‘painless needling technique’ which is aimed at avoiding all discomfort. In the worst case the patient may feel a flat ache or muscle twitching.

While a flat ache may concern you, it is symbolized as a positive sign that showcases the affected muscle is being targeted. This technique is widely effective in treating a variety of conditions such as knee pain, lower back pain, tennis or golfer’s elbow, shoulder pain, and other various sports injuries.
